Our French Roast is a dark fumed European White Oak flooring, with a rich walnut color and beautiful variations from light to dark boards. Dark fumed wood floors, often called “smoked oak,” are created by exposing wood (typically European Oak) to ammonia gas, reacting with natural tannins to produce deep, rich brown-to-black tones without staining. This process enhances the natural grain and creates high color variation between planks, resulting in a rustic, luxurious, and durable floor with improved scratch resistance.
